Freedom to Marry Week

Happy Freedom to Marry Week!

A friend just informed me that this week marks the 11th annual Freedom to Marry Week. I'm FULLY supporting it.

Here is a little background information. Be sure and check out the site too!

Every year, right around Pres. Lincoln's Birthday and Valentine's Day, gay and non-gay people around the country gather in living rooms, rectories, parks and civic halls to celebrate our lives, our loves, our families and the victories of our movement from the year before. Freedom to Marry Day, Tuesday, February 12th, is a day to celebrate and share our stories, reflect on the values of equality and love, while also engaging our neighbors in the movement for equality and fairness.

For the many thousands of you across the country looking for a way to get engaged locally in the fight to end discrimination in marriage, the 11th Annual Freedom to Marry Week offers the perfect opportunity.

thank you for posting this! it gets a little lonely being gay in the wedding "blogosphere" and it's nice when other people bring attention to stuff like this!

Absolutely! I'm glad you happened by too. You remind me that I don't focus on committment ceremonies enough. In fact, some of the BEST unions I've been to have been committment ceremonies, filled with fabulous details. I know what you mean about all of the blogs being one-sided and nauseating :) I'll try and even it out every once in a while. We should post some committment ceremony pics in our latest contest!
